Your ongoing support is vital in helping NewDay as we look to new ways of serving our local community.

NewDay family,
It is with great joy that we are able to restart to face to face Sunday service here at NewDay. The relaxing of NSW government COVID-19 restrictions allows us to resume our Sunday service, albeit a little different.

From late June we are now running face to face services at 10am Sunday (restrictions apply) and streaming the services online via Facebook.

While it’s exciting to return to worshipping together, we have government guidelines and directives to follow. As such, there are quite a few processes and procedures we will put in place to ensure we are adhering to those laws. These refer to the number of congregants we can have at out facility, how and where people can gather and how we can ensure a safe environment for all.

We still encourage those people who can’t attend to watch the service online (Facebook) and engage with us virtually. If you need support in accessing the service online please contact NewDay Church office and we can arrange someone to assist you.

Here is a snapshot of how we intend to move to face to face services (last updated 01 July 2020):

Before and after the service:

  • The number of people in a public place of worship must not exceed one person per 4 square metres
  • If we reach capacity we are required by law to prohibit entry to anyone else – measures have been considered to accommodate and make space for visitors who might attend.
  • NewDay Church COVID Marshals have been charged with ensuring our people’s safety by monitoring all processes and procedures.
  • People considered to be in high risk populations (aged 70+, with chronic health conditions or with compromised health) are strongly encouraged not to attend large gatherings as per NSW Health advice.
  • We still encourage those people who can’t attend to watch the service online and engage with us virtually.
  • People who are exhibiting cold or flu like symptoms are to stay at home and be tested for COVID-19 as per NSW Health advice.
  • Before entry to NewDay Church, every person will be subject to a temperature check.  If the temperature is above 37.5 C that person will be requested not to attend the service in person.
  • Every person attending will be required to provide their name and a contact phone number for the purposes of contact tracing.
  • Hand sanitiser will be provided and will be required on entry and available on exit.
  • There will be separate entry and exit points to the foyer and the main auditorium.
  • Strict physical distancing of 1.5m between people will be in place at all times.  Limits will also be set on how many people can be in certain areas – signage will advise.
  • No tea/coffee making will be available at this time.  This will be reviewed in the coming weeks.

During the service:

  • Auditorium seating has been arranged with physical distancing rules applied.  Congregants are to keep 1.5m apart at all times. Family groups are welcome to sit together as per NSW Health recommendations.
  • Communal/congregational singing is not permitted however we will have worship, led by a singer and the worship team.
  • Contactless welcoming of those outside your immediate family is required (no handshaking, embracing etc.)
  • Contactless communion and offering will be available with physical distancing measures in place.

We understand that this is church in a different world.  It’s going to take some getting used to and we ask for your cooperation and patience as we navigate this return. NewDay Church will continue to adjust these measures in line the with the latest recommendations from the NSW Government and NSW Health.

The safety of our people is our highest concern and providing a safe place to worship is what we are aiming for. If you have questions about our return to face to face services please contact the office on Tuesdays or Thursdays during office hours on 02 4226 5022

We will continue to keep you updated and look forward to welcoming our church family back to face to face services again.

Blessings and peace to you all,
NDC Board
