How have you been coping with social distancing?
I’ve faired well with day-to-day social distancing. In that sense, my life is reasonably normal with just the conscious act of physical distancing whilst going about life, business as usual.
What have you been struggling with?
I’ve struggled with not being able to be around and near my church family and close friends. Lack of social contact is very different to the type of personal contact I have with colleagues at work and interactions with others in general life, like shopping. As an extrovert, staying at home and not being with people is against my nature.
What has God been saying to you in this season?
God has reminded me of being responsible for my own spiritual growth and wellbeing, calling me to stay close with him and not reliant upon the scripted actions of church life. I also feel he wants me to bring a word of encouragement to NewDay, but hasn’t given the message to me yet.
What have you been doing to keep yourself busy?
I’m still at work, which has been pretty hectic. My normal responsibilities have been added to with various Covid-19 related functions and risk mitigation. Outside of work, I’ve continued painting our house and making sure my family are looked after.
How have you been connecting with God?
In challenging times I often return to Joshua. I’ve been looking at the challenges faced by the Israelites and their need to rely completely on God – who always gave them the victory. In general life, but particularly in my NewDay leadership position I’m trying to apply Joshua-likes trust in God and courage to go where He leads. The Transformational Program has been a great segue to do this in our recent challenges.
How have you been connecting with the people around you?
I’ve been on the phone most days calling people who I would routinely socialise with, but also trying to contact those that I would normally only have lesser contact. It’s important that everyone remains connected and knows that our Church Family genuinely cares.
What is your hope in this time of trial?
I hope NewDay doesn’t just survive this ordeal, but rather takes on the true character of being a church family and enacts this in practical ways for the betterment of us, and those in our surrounding community.
What encouragement would you like to give our Church Family right now?
God is still on his throne!!! He is still Lord of all. Christ has won the victory and given it to us, his children. Nothing can separate us from His love. God didn’t inflict Covid-19 upon the world, but He will use it for our good and the glory of His kingdom.
Is there any way our Church Family can pray for or support you right now?
I need daily renewing of a right spirit and strength in God, which I can only receive from the ministering of the Holy Spirit. Added to this, pray that I will have great spiritual wisdom and discernment to know God’s will for my life and to fulfil my leadership responsibilities for our NewDay Church family.
